Flea Market is a module that allows your customers to sell goods that were purchased but did not suit them. They can sell them on your website. Main condition is that they can sell only those goods purchased on your website.

The sale of goods that did not fit some characteristics (called "Flea Market") is a phenomenon that appeared in the environment of Taobao buyers and other online marketplaces. It is used to keep motivation for further purchases.

By the way, "Flea Market" is also suitable for for small wholesalers who buy goods on your website and offer them for sale as already checked after receiving (with exact characteristics: size, description of materials and feelings, like "this dress is nice on the touch"). 

Main advantage of this module for website owner is that it significantly reduces buyer's fears of risks when buying. Visitors are quicker to make a decision about purchase if website has a place where they can sell an item that did not suit and return money spent on it.

"Flea Market" also promotes formation of a community of buyers of your site, which keeps them on your site and attracts new users.

Site users will be able to sell products they purchased on the site through any kind of product aggregators.


What Products Can Be Added


It’s allowed to sell products from the completed (i.e. paid and delivered) orders. Option to offer product for sale is added to “Closed Orders” tab in "Orders" section in User Account.


How it Works


“Sell” button appears next to the item. By pushing the button you open the interface for adding product to the storefront. User can upload one image of the product, set up price, quantity, add description and his/her contact information. When all fields are entered, he/she presses “Offer for Sale” button. Product is forwarded for moderation to site administrator. User has a right to edit product information, in this case product will be sent for re-moderation. Until re-moderation is passed, the product is not displayed on the site.


There is “Flea Market” section containing all the products offered for sale in administration interface (new admin area, “Catalogue” section). Administrator is entitled to approve product (so it will be displayed in the storefront), reject product (notification providing the grounds for rejection will be sent to user), remove once displayed item from sale (e.g. if it’s sold). Sold products are not displayed in the list.

Customer received his order made on your website but product did not suit him (for example, size or color). Customer decided to sell it. He can do it on your website. He just follows these steps:

  1. He logs into his personal account on your website;
  2. He chooses a product that he wants to sell;
  3. He clicks "Sell" button and completes a simple form (title, description, price, 1 photo and contact information);
  4. Product for sale is visible in admin panel for moderation and you can: make changes, confirm, decline or discontinue;
  5. Customer organises sale and delivery of goods put up for sale after they are added into a special selection on your website.
  6. Product card will allow registered users to leave comments, ask questions or clarify some data. Product owner will also be able to leave a comment to product or answer questions.
  7. Customer clicks "Product sold" in his personal account after products are sold and completes order.
  8. Product disappears from your website (from special selection "Flea Market" and customer loses opportunity to sell this product again.

How to Use


It’s not allowed to add mentioned above products into the shopping cart on the site. You can contact seller using his/her personal data and settle the product payment and delivery issues by your own.

Sold items should be removed from sale in User Account. To remove item press “Sold” button. Product is no longer displayed on the site, and user is not able to offer it for sale again.

Logged in users can leave comments, ask questions or specify data in the product card (“Reviews” tab). Product owner can answer questions or leave comments on items as well.


User Guide


If user wants to sell the products that he/she already purchased, he/she presses “Sell” button next to the product in “Completed Orders” section in User Account:

In the popup box for product editing the following information can be changed:


  • Name
  • Description
  • Price
  • Quantity


User can attach the additional image of the product.


Important! Personal information (phone number, Skype, e-mail) to contact seller is to be entered in “Description” section.

After the editing is completed, user presses “Sell out” button.

After pressing the button the product appears in admin area; user product status is changed to “On Moderation”:


Managing Products for Sale


Choose “Flea Market” tab in “Catalogue” section (new admin area):

On the page:

  1. Start entering the initial symbols of user login in “User” field,
  2. Choose login,
  3. Press “Apply” button,
  4. View the products user wants to sell.

Product Moderation


When in moderation the product can be:


Rejected (provide the explanation for rejection in field beneath the description).

Removed from sale/delisted.


To implement the aforecited actions use buttons above the product list and in the product line:


By clicking a mouse, tick a box next to the product.

Choose one of the three options.


As per the chosen option a new status of the selling product will be displayed:



Rejected (the reasons for rejection are specified).



Product Editing


You can edit user product manually. Click the product name or editing icon (the icon with pencil):

In the popup window you can alter:


  • Name
  • Description
  • Price
  • Quantity

And attach an additional product image:

If you made changes, press “Save” button to save it. If you want to quit editing mode without saving, press “Cancel” button.

All changes are available for editing in User Account:

Product Sale


When moderation is successfully passed, user sees “Approved” status and the following buttons:

If user has edited once approved product, it is forwarded to moderation again and temporarily is not displayed on the site.

Approved item appears in the product selection on the main page of the site and in “Flea Market” section:

If user sold the product, he/she specifies it in his/her User Account by “Sold” button:

The product disappears from the "Products for Sell" list in admin area.


The product is no longer displayed in the shop either.
